The cost of repairing an unused, brand new R80 million building gutted by fire in Sandton at the weekend would be known only in the next two weeks, said Andrew Cairnes, a director of Edge Property, which owns the building.

The blaze, the cause of which is still unknown, destroyed the top floors and part of the front of the building. It had been intended law firms Nathan Edward Friedland and Knowles Husain Lindsay would take occupation this month.
