The Eastern Cape Master Builders Association had reason to celebrate recently after two of its members won firsts in the Master Builders SA national health and safety competition.

Grinaker LTA Construction Cape was honoured for the Sunridge Village Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth, in the category "projects valued between R20- and R50-million"

WBHO Eastern Cape won an award for the Walker Drive Shopping Centre for a project valued between R50-million and R200-million.

According to MBA Eastern Cape executive director Greg Steele, the main aim of the competition was to educate employers, employees and the public on building health and safety issues and to assist building and construction companies to adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
