Herman Mashaba was appointed as non-executive director of Metboard Properties on 25 August 2004.

Norbert SasseMashaba is founder, shareholder and non-executive director of Black Like Me (Pty) Limited and executive chairman of Leswikeng Minerals & Energy (Pty) Limited as well as non-executive chairman of Stocks Building Africa (Pty) Limited and holds directorships in various other companies.

"Mashaba will play a vital role sourcing investment opportunities for Metboard in line with our focus on higher yielding industrial property investments," said David Kuper, chairman of Metboard Properties Limited.

Metboard, managed by Investec Property Group, will benefit from the strength of Mashaba's relationship with Investec of over 15 years and his commitment to empowerment initiatives.

"Investec Group exemplifies strong management and Investec Property Group is a market leader," acknowledged Mashaba. "I believe that in addition to bringing a new perspective to the board, I will increase my experience in the property market and benefit from the knowledge base and skills of the team of Investec Property Group," said Mashaba.

Herman founded the empowerment vehicle, Leswikeng Minerals & Energy (Pty)Limited in 2002 with the intention of focussing on the resource and energy sectors and decided in 2003 to expand the business and empowerment initiatives outside its original scope.

The appointment of Mashaba, winner of the Free Marketing Foundation Award for 2004, brings the number of non-executive directors at Metboard to three.

Other awards bestowed on Herman was the 2001 SABC/Tribute Achievers Award, and the 2003 Award for Entrepreneurial Leadership by Henley Management College.
