"Gensec Property Services is the most transformed property company in South Africa".

Johannesburg - 27th July 2004 - "Pound-for-pound, there is no other organisation in the sector which has an executive team and employee force that reflects the changes in the country to the extent that we do - and one of my passionate objectives here will be to help ensure that we remain the industry benchmark on this front," says Temba Vundla.

He was recently appointed General Manager: Business Development at the Sanlam-owned property group, where his mantle of responsibility includes a key role in the design and implementation of marketing strategy, as well as the development and maximisation of relationships with government and parastatals, strategic alliance partners and potential new clients.

"Helping to guide Gensec Property Services into a key role in the formulation of the upcoming Property Charter is also high on my 'to do'

list," says Vundla. It is important that the property industry be proactive in driving the charter rather than adopting a wait and see or stalling tactics. It would be indeed a sad day if we found ourselves in the very same situation as the agriculture - based companies where the Minister had to unveil the draft charter on their behalf.

A BA graduate with majors in Psychology and Political Science, he comes to Gensec Property Services with a strong marketing background and a wealth of experience in several other business disciplines.

At one time the first-ever black brand manager at liquor giant SFW, he went on to become Managing Director of the fishing division of the listed Oceana Group which specialised in the export of rock lobster and tuna to the US and Far East. Vundla was also in charge of the largest fish cannery in the Southern Hemisphere which produced The Lucky Star Pilchard brand.

Positions in marketing management and promotions in other organisations like Tongaat Milling, African Beverage Corporation, the Urban Foundation, Johannesburg City Council, World Newspapers and Spiritz Magazines feature on the rest of his business track record.

"Temba's appointment is a significant strategic management move," says Marna van der Walt, CEO of Gensec Property Services. "As a group we are dead serious about genuine transformation - an initiative which is driven from the heart and not by a wish to chase numbers".

"Apart from his vast experience in marketing and business development, Temba has the expertise and credentials to help take Gensec Property Services to the next level in our transformation process - a level where we open up even greater opportunities to previously disadvantaged individuals and help grow them into property professionals who would be a credit anywhere in the industry," says van der Walt.
