Old Mutual Properties has developed an internet-enabled utilities management system allowing property managers and facilities managers to track energy and water usage in buildings and effectively manage municipal utility accounts.

Richard Murphy who heads the facilities management division of Old Mutual Properties, says: “Utilman, the internally designed energy, utilities and utilities account management system, provides a secure user and pass-word controlled environment.

“It ensures quick and easy access to municipal account information and payment cycles and tenant metered service information. Trends in building and tenant metered electricity and water services can be graphically displayed for easy analyses.”

Murphy says Utilman can also be used as a forecast and budgeting tool to project energy and water usage based on historical data and user control values.

“Old Mutual Properties has negotiated a standard format of data exchange with its meter reading service providers to ensure accurate loading of monthly tenant meter reading data received from service providers.

“Furthermore, Utilman is integrated with Old Mutual Properties’ financial system to ensure accuracy of data migration to the financial system.”

Utilman will enable Old Mutual Properties to better manage energy consumption in the buildings under management, says Murphy.
