Executives from the substantial Middle Eastern conglomerate, the Al Babtain Group, met with Spurcorp leadership in Cape Town recently to finalise key details of the agreement to open a large number of the popular Spur steak ranches in the region.
The first Spur outlet will serve up its tasty foods in the state of Qatar, whose economy is booming thanks to its enormous natural gas and oil supplies and assorted industrial activities. Outlets in Kuwait, Dubai, Egypt and neighbouring countries will follow.
The Kuwaiti steak ranches will operate on a pure franchise basis, with outlets owned and run by the Al Babtain Group and backed up by Spur with initial management assistance, intellectual property and support systems from Spur. All initial training will be supplied locally by Spur. Décor items, specialised equipment and sauces will be imported from SA.
