(Cape Town, 12 May 2004) The level of interest in investing in Cape Town’s Central City continues to grow apace, with inquiries being received from South Africa and abroad.

This attests to the success of the work of the Cape Town Partnership in revitalising the City’s CBD.

One of the prime functions of the Partnership has been to facilitate the necessary introductions between potential investor and property owner.

This service will take a major step forwards with the announcement today of the Central City’s first property portal by the Mayor of Cape Town, Nomaindia Mfeketo.

Speaking at the opening of the South African Property Owners’ Association (SAPOA) Conference at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Mfeketo said that the launch of the portal meant that it would now be possible for interested investors to view on-line the portfolio of commercial property available for rent or for sale in Cape Town’s Central City.

The portal will be hosted as a link from the Partnership’s website www.capetownpartnership.co.za.  It is a joint project between the Partnership and SAPOA.

With this easy access to a range of pertinent and useful property availability information, much of the time-consuming searching process will be eliminated.

The advent of the Partnership’s new property portal should facilitate even greater investment interest in a central Cape Town that stands on the cusp of an exciting new era of growth.

Of particular significance has been the move towards the residential conversion of many Central City buildings and the upgrade and management of public space.  With an increased inner city population, the revitalisation process should achieve an exponential boost.
