Over the past 11 months (March 2003- Feb 2004) Pam Golding Properties' KwaZulu-Natal network of offices has sold 746 properties in new residential development projects to the value of over R645 million.

These incorporate homes and stands in 34 different developments launched in this period - many of which are sold out - and situated in the following
areas:  Margate, Ramsgate, Shelly Beach, St Michael's on Sea, Hibberdene, Amanzimtoti, Mount Edgecombe, La Lucia, Umhlanga, La Mercy, Umdloti, Ballito, the Highway area (Kloof/Hillcrest), Pietermaritzburg, Hilton, Howick and elsewhere in the KZN Midlands. These sales exclude other single residential properties sold or house re-sales at other existing residential developments.

Says Barbara Becker, regional manager for Pam Golding Franchise Services in

Becker says investors in residential developments in KwaZulu-Natal include both local and upcountry buyers, overseas investors and some buyers from other provinces around the country. Many are purchasing with a view to relocating to the new developments either immediately or in the future, some are purchasing for leisure purposes, while others buy purely for investment reasons.  She says the return on investment factor is playing an increasing role in buyer decisions, with gated developments generally offering a high return. She adds that a number of new developments are already in the pipeline and due to be launched in various prime locations in KwaZulu-Natal in the near future.
