The Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, of the University of Pretoria, has made history by appointing a departmental advisory board to advise the department on strategic issues that impact on its activities.

What makes the board unique is that it comprises five very senior mechanical engineers from industry, together with the senior academics from the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department.

The board will meet on a regular basis and give advice on academic matters (teaching and research), academic quality, local relevance, transformation, international competitiveness, departmental culture, sustainability, as well as innovation regarding the under- and postgraduate programmes of the department.
