nspector Tony Modise said the cameras, which were installed almost five years ago, helped in the arrest of suspects for crimes such as robbery, theft, drinking in public, drunken driving and malicious damage to property.

Police were kept busy during the festive season with 7767 complaints reported. The complaints were mostly from the Kimberley, Galashewe and Roodepan policing areas.

Police were, however, concerned about the withdrawal of cases during the preliminary investigations, Modise said.
