Auction firm ClareMart has sold three properties in the hospitality industry in the past month - the Goodwood Hotel, the Cedarberg Lodge in Citrusdal and a luxurious five-star guesthouse in the Camps Bay area.

Property-Housing-ResidentialThe Cedarberg Lodge fell under the hammer on October 10. Representatives from all the leading hotel groups attended and the property was eventually knocked down for R1.2 million.

ClareMart chief executive Jonathan Smiedt said it was sold to a private investor who said he was going to continue running the lodge "with its existing winning formula".

ClareMart sold the historic Goodwood Hotel for just under R2m.

And recently the company sold the Cape Retreat luxury mansion in Camps Bay, one of the first-ever 5-star rated boutique guesthouses to go up for public auction in South Africa.

The guesthouse was valued independently by agents at close to R10m.
