Whether the current inflation trend is cyclical or structural is also one of the questions that Professor Brian Kantor from UCT's School of Economics will be answering at the conference, to be held at Spier Estate near Stellenbosch on October 13.
Kantor will analyse whether inflation will continue to be "unexpectedly" low, not just next year but for the next 10 years, bringing all normal yields and growth rates down with it.
Rode CEO Erwin Rode will discuss the prospects for the SA property market, and how property professionals should best structure their operations. KPMG legal and tax manager Ben Strauss will look at increasing property returns by making use of tax breaks, and Martin Venter, MD of Gatekeeper Asset Management, will focus on innovative property financing and investment.
Venter is one of the up-and-coming young property entrepreneurs using new tools to build wealth. Because of the interest in property investment, especially in the central business districts, property broker Theodore Yach, one of the drivers behind the rescue of the Cape Town CBD, will give his views on opportunities in the Mother City CBD.
In the same vein, property investors will benefit from an evaluation of the risks and opportunities offered by golf estates, presented by Dirk Hattingh and Dr Johan Smith. Hattingh is the project manager of the successful De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate development near Stellenbosch, while Dr Smith is senior lecturer in financial management at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
