Table Bay Mall celebrated its 1st anniversary on 28 September 2018. With 65,000m² of retail space, this world-class regional mall has, despite tough economic conditions, achieved turnover of more than R100m per month since it opened its doors; and continues to have an optimistic outlook for the coming years in the rapidly expanding Big Bay, Bloubergstrand and West Beach catchment areas.

Table Bay Mall, with its retail mix of local and international brands, has welcomed 33 new tenants to the mall since it opened a year ago. Some of the latest being: Cielo (their 1st store in Cape Town), Matrix Computers, Ouhout Meubels, Cellini, Experimax, Paintalicious, Biggie Best, Personlised4U, and the Car Plus car wash in the basement parking area. In addition, several new exciting stores such as Trappers, Xpresso, Best of Asia, Tux Tailor, Barksole and Mr Tekkie will be opening their doors before the end of the year. According to Hildegarde Riphagen, who represents the developers of Table Bay Mall, “We have been astounded at the level of retail demand for the centre since its opening. We are well on our way to establishing Table Bay Mall as the dominant regional shopping centre on the West Coast for the next decade”.

For additional convenience, the City of Cape Town will be opening a customer service centre that they predict will attract as many as 1,000 visitors a day. The new store - the first of its kind - will feature a customer-friendly modern banking hall design that will provide the public with services such as account enquiries and payments, motor vehicle registrations and licensing, rates rebate applications and indigent applications. The City of Cape Town expects residents from across the city to make use of this facility.

Two new sit-down restaurants Cafetaria and Blu’s Bistro will also be opening before the December school holidays. Both Cafeteria, a new-style all-day eatery, and Blu’s Bistro, a sit-down tapas and wine bar, will take up prime restaurant space in the centre of the mall, while negotiations are currently underway for an additional new restaurant to take up space in the mall’s specially designed restaurant frontage that boasts amazing views of Table Mountain; leaving one last restaurant opportunity available at Table Bay Mall.

The innovation doesn’t stop there. Table Bay Mall will be introducing a new concept, The Food Cube. Four eateries, each in its own cube, will offer a variety of cuisines to diners in a relaxed, casual communal seating area; and the live music and entertainment juxtaposed with the welcoming style and design is sure to attract locals.

Despite current trading conditions, Table Bay Mall has continued to attract new tenants to meet the needs of its growing shopper market and boasts a vacancy rate that is well below 4%. This is due to the mall providing shoppers with a full retail offering as per its standing as a regional shopping mall, whilst still being extremely convenient for quick pop-in visits in a beautifully designed environment. The mall also offers a variety of innovations from its digital wallpaper lift surrounds to its Tap-and-Go parking solution.

The continued rapid residential growth of the Sunningdale area, which includes the opening in January 2019 of the new Rallim preparatory school, is positive news for Table Bay Mall as it builds on its first year successes and continues to introduce new retail concepts to its shopping community.
