The Women’s Property Network (WPN) was established in early 2000 to create a forum for women in a predominantly male industry to join together to exchange information, develop business contacts and enhance professional success.

Since 2008, the WPN has awarded bursaries to female students studying towards a property related degree or diploma. This year has been no exception. After much deliberation due to the great financial need of so many students, the Trustees are delighted to award fourteen bursaries in excess of R800 000-00 (tuition and study material fees) to female students studying at various institutions across the country.

Over the past two years, the WPN has secured funding to award bursaries through the proceeds of the sale of tables at the SA Women in Property Awards gala dinner.  The WPN will once again celebrate women from the industry later in the year at a glittering event to be held on 18 October 2017 at The Polo Room at the Inanda Club.

In addition, funding has also come to the WPN by way of charity entries being sold for the Two Oceans Half Marathon, as well as generous support from Delta Property Fund who have provided in excess of R1,5million in bursary support since 2014.

WPN Chair, Sandi Mbutuma, says: “We continue to be overwhelmed by the generous support of companies in the industry. On behalf of the WPN Executive, I would like to thank contributors for their support.  The WPN Educational Trust is a special initiative, and one which has been nurtured for many years so as to ensure that young female graduates take their place in the industry and are able to make a meaningful contribution.”

In addition to the awarding of the bursaries, the WPN through its regional chapters and committees will support these students by ensuring regular contact to discuss study material and any problem areas that may have arisen, and will engage with the students at the networking events so that they have access to women active in the industry.
