Women's Property Network announce winners of 2016 SA Women In Property Awards

At a glittering event held at the Monte Casino Ballroom on the 2th of October, the Women’s Property Network (WPN) celebrated the 2016 South African Women in Property Awards.

These awards recognize women who have excelled in the sector and had a remarkable year. More than 300 guests celebrated the winners, with special guests the First Lady Masina and Ms Phindile Mbanjwa, Head of Department Gauteng Department of Economic Development, as well as many prominent industry leaders. The event was proudly sponsored by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

This is the second year that the awards have been held recognising outstanding achievement by women in the Property Industry.

Genevieve Naidoo, the Women’s Property Network (WPN) outgoing Chairwoman, says that not only are we recognizing great women who have gone beyond their call of duty, but we also are able to raise funds towards the Education Trust which provides bursaries to female students in tertiary environments pursuing property related degrees.

The SA Women in Property Awards is a collaborative platform dedicated to recognising outstanding leadership, inspiration, vision, and innovation in organisations that have stepped up and shaped women’s roles within the private and public sectors. "The awards categories reflect a wide spectrum of work these deserving women from the public and private sectors are involved in” says Sandi Mbutuma, WPN incoming Chairlady.

Sanam Shree was named the winner in the YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARD (under 35 years old) was. As Chief Strategy and Investment Officer of Shree Property Holdings, she was recognised for the significant role that she plays within her company and involvement in youth initiatives.

The BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR: ENTREPRENEUR AWARD went to Monalisa Sam, founding Managing Director of Tungwa Retail Holdings, a retail advisory company that empowers retailers to evolve their concepts into viable and sustainable business operations.

Noluthando Molao, Associate Director at Turner and Townsend was recognised as the winner in the PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR: CORPORATE / PRIVATE SECTOR AWARD category as a result of her incredible achievements and contribution to the built environment sector.

Helen Botes, City of Joburg Property Company CEO was acknowledged for her phenomenal work for the City as she won the PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR: PUBLIC SECTOR AWARD.

A new category, The Lisa Blane Award, was introduced in recognition of Lisa Blane and her significant contribution to the WPN and property industry. Lisa advocated for the education and development of young women to equip them to fulfill different roles within the industry.
