Construction has commenced at The Yacht Club, a unique R1.3bn mixed-use iconic development by the Amdec Group, South Africa’s leading developer of New Urban lifestyles.

The Yacht Club is superbly located at the gateway to Cape Town’s waterfront on the doorstep of the city’s historic Foreshore and a mere stone’s throw from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

This top-class development will comprise a hotel operated by a leading international brand - which will be announced soon - and modern urban apartment living in two towers proudly set on a podium of premium-grade office space.

Amdec Property Development, part of The Amdec Group, is the development manager of The Yacht Club.

Nicholas Stopforth, Amdec Property Development’s MD, comments: “We are thrilled to begin the construction of this landmark project. This year, work will focus on the two basement levels, which will supply generous dedicated parking for residents, workers and guests of The Yacht Club. The building will begin rising out of the ground from January 2017, and construction will be complete in May 2018.”

Already, with just less than two years before it welcomes its first residents, around 80% of the 170 apartments at The Yacht Club have been sold.

Its beautiful apartments - with one bedroom, two bedroom, and luxury corner apartments - range from 54m2 to 99m2. What’s more, as the developers of Melrose Arch, Amdec understands that successful developments go beyond bricks-and-mortar buildings to the quality of lifestyle they offer. Expressing this ethos, The Yacht Club is a vibrant live, work, play environment within a safe, secure and prestigious precinct.

Stopforth confirms The Yacht Club apartments have proven particularly popular with investors, who have enthusiastically welcomed the massive potential they represent for long-term leases, as well as owner occupiers. Many of these buyers are based in Johannesburg.

He says: “The response to the residential apartments at The Yacht Club has been tremendous. With spectacular all-round vistas, the apartments offer unique views of the Cape Town Harbour or Table Mountain. This, together with an exceptional location and the quality of development, support their strong market appeal. We are now in the final stretch for apartment sales at The Yacht Club.”

As The Yacht Club apartments near sold-out levels, Amdec is turning its attention to the roughly 6,550sqm prime office component of the development.

Like its apartments, the offices at The Yacht Club encompass so much more than a great workplace. It creates a connected urban environment with exceptional benefits for businesses and their employees.

“Offering a magnificent view of the waterfront from modern and quality offices that are flexible enough to house a single large tenant or a multitenant environment, The Yacht Club will be an exclusive, compelling and inspiring workspace,” says Stopforth.

He adds: “The Yacht Club offers a leading business address that supports an exclusive urban experience in an energised precinct on a working harbour superbly connected to all the buzz of city living in a location steeped in history.”

The Yacht Club is within the Roggebaai Canal Tourism Precinct, named after the Roggebaai Canal which runs through it. It is linked to an outstanding variety of world-class tourist, business, transport, retail, and recreation facilities, all within its immediate vicinity. The Yacht Club’s striking nautically inspired design will reflect the heritage of this unique setting.

“It also connects seamlessly with the city’s major business districts, South Africa’s commercial hubs and beyond,” points out Stopforth.

The Yacht Club offers easy access by car, bus, shuttle, taxi and by water taxi on the Roggebaai Canal waterway. It boasts dedicated access at the junction of several transport systems and enjoys direct connections to the city’s major arterial roads and direct highway links across the city and to Cape Town International Airport.
