On the afternoon of 10 June, at approximately 14.45pm, a customer fell at Nelson Mandela Square.

“The incident was brought to the attention of the centre management team and emergency services were called to the scene,” Julie Hillary, general manager Nelson Mandela Square, said on Wednesday, 10 June.

“After receiving initial care on site, the injured shopper was transported by the emergency services to a hospital within the Sandton area, and is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.”

“This incident is unrelated to the one which took place on the 3rd June and is extremely unfortunate. The centre management and the project team are currently conducting an investigation around the incident.

A Nelson Mandela Square representative has visited the injured shopper at the hospital and we will continue to offer support and monitor the customer’s wellbeing,” concluded Julie Hillary.

Nelson Mandela Square’s primary concern is the safety of their shoppers and visitors to the centre during the refurbishment process.

All areas under refurbishment are well demarcated and sign posted.

The centre management and the project team are currently conducting an investigation around the incident.
