Cape Quarter revitalised and regenerated

The Cape Quarter has experienced rapid regeneration and is set for a bumper festive season, with an exciting line up of events taking place over the coming weeks.

Sean PaulThe flagship property within the Tower Property Fund portfolio, has experienced rapid regeneration through the efforts of the Tower management team and Spire Property Management, and the centre is set for a bumper festive season, with an exciting line up of events taking place over the coming weeks.

In the four months that Tower has owned the Cape Quarter many positive changes have taken place.

"The office space at the Cape Quarter, which makes up 51% of the lettable space within the centre, is almost fully let with an enviable list of tenants such as the Deloitte head office, Lindt chocolates and Pernod Ricard," says Johan Malherbe of Tower Asset Managers. "We have also noticed that the area has become a hub for advertising agencies."

"Another noticeable change is that initiatives are in place to reduce the operating costs of the centre through various greening projects so that we can deliver on the promised occupancy cost reductions. We have also implemented a beautification process at the Cape Quarter."

Over the festive season several exciting events have been planned for the Cape Quarter in order to increase footfall to the centre and to provide a centralised source of entertainment for the local community.

Amongst the events planned over the season is a performance from the SACS Concert Band on the 3rd of December, and a White Collar Boxing Night on the 5th, as well as an extensive kids program at the Piazza on the 9th, 10th, 13th, 17th, 19th and 20th of December and again on the 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th of January.

Tower, and managing agency Spire, are working hard to revitalise the unique Cape Quarter and to maximise on the opportunities for tenants and customers at this urban lifestyle village and convenience centre which caters to the local community. "Our team has revived the Cape Quarter's marketing strategy and brand positioning, as well as revisited the tenant mix to ensure that whilst it caters for essentials it also has an upmarket boutique feel - retaining selective brands, quality value, interesting lifestyle solutions and a unique experience," says Sean Paul, Managing Director of Spire Property Management.

Tenants have subsequently reported increased turnover – some substantial - since the Cape Quarter was purchased by the Tower Property Fund.
