The extension and redevelopment of the Phillipi Shopping Centre, situated on the corner of Lansdowne and New Eisleben Roads, is set for completion in early December 2013 and brings welcome new retail outlets to the residents of Phillipi.
The centre is currently undergoing an extension that will offer increased retail to the residents of Phillipi who do not have to then travel to other areas to access banking facilities, buy food, clothing, household and convenience goods. Some of the new tenants that the residents of Philippi can look forward to finding in the extension are Ackermans and Shoprite Liquor.
"With over 20 tenants, and with Shoprite as the anchor tenant, the extension of the Phillipi shopping centre offers exciting opportunities, not only to consumers in this underserviced area, but also to retailers looking to expand into this growing area and to have a presence in this popular centre," says Sean Paul, Managing Director of Spire Property Management who property manage the Phillipi Shopping Centre on behalf of Fortress Income Fund.
Phillipi is growing and retail development is a necessary element for successful urban renewal – especially in underserviced areas.
The extension to the Phillipi shopping centre, once completed, will add an additional 1450m² square meters to the total footprint of the centre and limited vacant space is still available in this extension with a speedy uptake on vacancies by retailers so far.
The improved Phillipi shopping centre will be completed at the beginning of December – in time for the festive season retail boom.
