Positive news in the hospitality sector in South Africa is recorded throughout, which despite experiencing substantial decline between 2009 and 2011, recorded a national average RevPAR (revenue per available room) annual increase of 10.5 percent during 2012.

Joop DemesThis trend has continued into 2013 with year to date RevPAR growth as at the end of August 2013 reflecting an impressive 13.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The sale of the Westcliff Hotel, facilitated last year December, has been the catalyst to a number of transactions that we are currently closing and the increased overall performance has without doubt led to overall increased values.

Pam Golding Lodges and Guesthouses (PGLAG) has experienced a significant increase in enquiries and although the traditionally strong demand from South Africa, Holland, Germany and the UK remains in place, there is increased activity from China where we recently recorded our first transaction.

PGLAG recorded total sales of close to R100 million (for the calendar year to date) and remains the market leader in the sale of guesthouses and boutique hotels.

The excellent reputation that Pam Golding Tourism and Hospitality Consulting (PGTHC) has established in South Africa as the key consultancy firm in the hotel industry has become the catalyst to its expansion into the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.

PGTHC has provided extensive services over the past 12 months to the Government of St Helena Island, Zimbabwe, Angola, Cameroon, Botswana and Nigeria.

Added to this, PGTHC has been appointed by the IDC (Industrial Development Corporation) on a substantial national project. Looking forward, we see an increasing presence in Sub-Saharan Africa while our core base in South Africa continues to acknowledge PGTHC as one of the premium advisors in the hotel sector.
