Excellerate Property Services (EPS), which was formed following the Excellerate group’s acquisition of a stake in JHI Properties in 2010, is on a concerted growth path, says Marna van der Walt, CEO of EPS

Marna van der WaltSays van der Walt: “Over the past two years JHI and Excellerate have capitalised on the synergies between the two companies and made significant inroads into the market. As Excellerate Property Services is able to provide an extensive range of turnkey solutions and integrated services on a local, regional, national and international (Africa) basis to tenants, owners and investors, a variety of new business opportunities are presented in the marketplace.”

JHI Properties currently manages over R50 billion in assets and provides a comprehensive range of property services. The other shareholders in JHI Properties are senior management of JHI and the PEACE Foundation.

In addition to JHI Properties, Excellerate Property Services, a level three BBBEE contributor, includes a variety of property related services which include: Excellerate Facilities Management, JHI Residential, JHI Project Management (which includes Katavi Properties), Interpark (parking and ticketing management), Sterikleen (cleaning, hygiene, pest control and gardening/landscaping), Katanga (a SMME specialising in soft services), Kgodisa Training Academy and Chattels (event management and infrastructural solutions).

Adds van der Walt: “Given the broad scope of property related services that EPS is able to offer, we are now strategically well positioned to grow the business in Southern Africa, and also to continue expanding into the rest of Africa, building on our existing operations in Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Botswana, Ghana and Nigeria. We are positive in regard to the growth prospects presented in Africa, not only the potential to realise sound investment, but to become a meaningful stakeholder playing a role in regard to job creation, skills transference and development initiatives.”

As a result of van der Walt’s increased responsibility as CEO of EPS and to ensure continued focus on the growth and value-add of JHI, which is specialising in commercial and retail management services, Johann Boshoff, currently director: property management for JHI, becomes MD of JHI Properties with effect from 1 October 2012. Reporting to Johann Boshoff is national retail director Johan Engelbrecht; Louis Boshoff, who has been appointed property management director in Gauteng; Rob Moran, regional director in KwaZuluNatal and Liezel Conradie, regional executive in the Western and Eastern Cape.

Under van der Walt’s leadership, JHI has achieved unprecedented growth since 2006, when the company had approximately R11 billion in assets under management.
