These courses are an extension of their existing training courses and will be offered in Johannesburg on the 29th of March 2012:
Green Star SA Project Certification Workshop
This half day course is aimed at those who wish to gain greater insight into the certification process and the collation of high-quality Green Star SA submissions for formal green building certification.
With the Green Building movement fast gaining momentum in South Africa it has become increasingly important for professionals within the built environment to understand what constitutes best practise in SA and how to go about achieving it.
Anyone considering a Green Star submission should attend this invaluable workshop. The course offers guidance and clarity on the individual credit topics – these being Energy Conditional Requirements and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Air Change Effectiveness, Thermal Comfort, Daylight and Daylight Glare Control. Also covered is the requisite documentation required for both ''Design'' and ''As Built'' projects, with demonstrations and energy modelling reports being used as examples of what should be included in the documentation submitted to assessors.
Greening the Inside: Commercial Interiors
This workshop explores the key issues for greening our interiors and how to integrate best-practices into our design process and project implementation. Michelle Ludwig, commercial sustainable interior architect and expert green design consultant, will be facilitating this fascinating interactive and practical workshop.
In addition to these exciting workshops, the GBCSA continues to run their Green Star SA Accredited Professional Course, which is the core of the GBCSA’s educational offering.
Once completed, course graduates who then go on to pass the AP exam are known as Green Star SA Accredited Professionals and have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Green Star SA rating system, both in content and practical application during the building design and construction process.
The next round of AP courses will take place in April and May in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein.
“The GBCSA is pleased to be able to offer these essential courses to South African professionals. We developed the workshops in direct response to our members’ and industry demands and, together with selected expert external consultants, will now be able to lead South Africa that one step further towards a green built environment,” says Brian Wilkinson, CEO of the GBCSA.
“The council is committed to knowledge sharing and education on green building in South Africa and we urge people not to miss out on this opportunity to gain invaluable information and insight into the Green Star SA rating system as well as the greening of existing buildings,” concludes Wilkinson.
