The first to provide SETA-accredited training for the new Facilities and Property Management diploma – an NQF level 4 qualification, Kgodisa is an independent company which forms part of Excellerate Property Services – a holding company of which JHI Properties and Sterikleen are members.
“Having launched just prior to the December/January festive season, we were delighted to receive over 100 enquiries from members of the public eager to enrol. While we thought that those interested would be mainly students from the property industry, but surprisingly, we are finding that many students from other industries are contacting us.
“Courses will focus on the needs of the property sector and this includes soft skills and industry specific skills. The scheduled date for the first Facilities and Property Management Diploma course is 16 March 2012. In addition, the academy will also conduct short courses on other subjects such as negotiation skills and customer care, and also host breakfasts with industry experts – enabling delegates to obtain firsthand information regarding the property sector,” says Bezuidenhout.
Both Kgodisa and the academy’s Facilities and Property Management Diploma are accredited by the Services SETA and as a result, businesses which send
employees on the courses will be able to utilise their skills training information for BEE ratings. While the academy is based in Sandton, Johannesburg, it is intended that the courses will also be offered in Cape Town and Durban in 2013.
Adds Bezuidenhout: “The positive response to the launch of the academy demonstrates the need for such a facility, and is also indicative of growing interest in general among a broad cross-section of people wanting to enter the property industry. Once obtained, this new NQF level 4 qualification will enable applicants to enter the property industry as a portfolio manager or facilities manager. For those already employed in the property industry the courses on offer provide the opportunity for career advancement and personal growth.”
