A modern design, easy access to the site and 1000 parking bays will all add up to a new and exciting shopping experience for the people of Burgersfort and surrounding towns.
The 32,000 square meter retail shopping mall, situated in the valley of the Spekboom River in the greater Tubatse Local Municipality, is being developed by Tubatse Mall (Pty) Ltd with the development and project managers being Abacus Asset Management, the same team responsible for the highly successful Mooiriver Mall (mall of the year 2010) in Potchefstroom. The architectural design will be provided by Stauch Vorster in Johannesburg . Murray and Roberts are appointed as the successful contractors being responsible for constructing the greatly anticipated retail space.
According to Jaco Odendaal (Chairman of Abacus) , leading retailers have shown confidence in the development and shoppers can look forward to a modern enclosed air conditioned mall with choice of over 100 shops, boasting a well planned tenant mixture including our South African favourites and original local stores from the Burgersfort area. This will be supplemented by a wonderful variety of food offerings anchored by Pick n Pay which according to the local community is well overdue.
Burgersfort has become the hub of the mining expansion due to the vast platinum resources located in the area and the Tubatse Mall development is expected to add to the vital economic growth of the region. Odendaal predicts that between 800 and 900 new job opportunities will be created during the construction phase and in excess of 800 permanent and casual jobs will be created following the opening of Tubatse mall, which is planned for March 2013.
The developers value community involvement and have appointed community liaison officers and a BEE specialist to monitor that maximum benefit for the local economy is achieved.
