With the kind support of Sandton City’s Mr Price Home, the Centre recently delivered 142 polar fleece blankets to the children of the Alexandra Township as part of Sandton City’s monthly Corporate Social Initiative programme

The children and caregivers of Banakekeleni and Abangani E Nkosini homes were delighted with the donations, which arrived alongside the cold front that recently swept through Gauteng.

“Banakekeleni would like to express its gratitude to Sandton City for thinking of us,” says Rose Martins, Project Manager at Banakekeleni.   “The blanket donations will ensure that our children are kept warm this winter.”

As part of the annual Sandton City CSI programme, the Centre has pledged its commitment to supply these homes with various essential packs throughout the year, helping these individuals meet their basic needs.

“We would like to thank our tenant, Mr Price Home, for their support with this initiative,” says Sharon Swain, Sandton City Centre Manager.  “Together we have helped make a difference in our surrounding communities.”

Banakekeleni, meaning ‘take care of them’, is a hospice and Aids orphanage that cares for infected and affected children and adults. Abangani E Nkosini is a centre of care for orphaned and vulnerable children, the sick and elderly. They provide social support, encourage rejuvenation in the community, take on social responsibility and engage in basic, broad based economic empowerment that spreads into the Alexandra Township.
