The larger development size, substantially increased from the initially announced 34,000sqm, follows confirmation from Edcon that Edgars, Jet, Legit and CNA will be joining Middelburg Mall’s appealing tenant mix of some 90 popular retailers.
Middelburg Mall is set to provide a comprehensive retail offering to the fast-growing and increasingly affluent population of Middelburg and its surrounds with a strong base of national retailers, including food anchors tenants Checkers, Woolworths and Pick n Pay as well as Game and major South African banks Standard Bank, Old Mutual Bank, African Bank, Capitec Bank and Nedbank.
Already some 90% let, leading South African retail centre developers and investors Flanagan & Gerard Property Development & Investment and Moolman Group are driving the Middelburg Mall development.
The fashion forward mall will offer its shoppers an impressive variety of clothing including Edgars, Donna Claire, Identity, Truworths Emporium, Exact, Studio 88, Pick n Pay Clothing, Rage, Legit, Jet, Markham, Foschini, Queenspark, Mr Price, Davisons and Milady's. This will be supported by the latest in outdoor and sportswear from Total Sports, Sportscene and Cape Union Mart as well as jewellers American Swiss and Sterns.
Gadgets and technology will also be well represented at Middelburg Mall by Incredible Connection, BT Games, Foto First and MTN, while specialist retail will be offered by Flight Specials, Happy Nappy and Verimark, amongst others.
Looking after shoppers’ health are Clicks and Torga Optical and taking care of home decor are @home and Sheet Street. In addition, CNA, Cardies, Khoki and Bargain Books will offer a comprehensive variety of stationery and reading material.
Finally, great for fast food or a family outing, Spur, Cappuccinos, Wimpy and King Pie will all be cooking up their delicious menus for Middelburg Mall shoppers.
“We are pleased to report immense retailer support for Middelburg Mall,” says Patrick Flanagan of Flanagan & Gerard. “The project is on schedule and we are looking forward to bringing a full retail experience and exceptional overall offering to shoppers– all in a vibrant, quality, contemporary centre – when Middelburg Mall opens in April next year.”
Jannie Moolman of the Moolman Group explains that Middelburg Mall was designed to accommodate future expansion in anticipation of growing shopper and retailer demand. “This allowed for the increased size of the development to accommodate the Edcon brands,” points out Moolman. “Middelburg Mall’s expansion potential could result in the mall ultimately growing to in excess of 50,000sqm.”
Superbly situated, Middelburg Mall regional shopping centre is centrally located off the busy N4 highway and enjoys excellent access via both the Fontein Street offramp and Tswelopele Avenue. It will also offer generous parking, adding to its convenience for shoppers.
Middelburg Mall will cater for a diverse shopper demographic, serving markets in Middelburg and its surrounds, as far as Belfast, Dullstroom, Machadodorp, Lydenburg, Hendrina, Ermelo, Groblersdal and Steelpoort.
