Rosebank’s new vibrant atmosphere and improved tenant mix has taken root and resulted in a continued upward trend in retail spend in the recently refurbished Mall of Rosebank.

According to Ivan Pachonick, national retail director of JHI Real Estate, the Mall’s property manager, foot traffic in December 2002 exceeded 900 000 and parking for the last quarter of 2002 reflected a massive 45% increase over the same period in 2001.  Tenant turnovers continue to climb with many tenants showing increases in excess of 20% and one national having more than doubled their turnover.

“The success of the pavement cafés and “continental feel” in Cradock Avenue has had a beneficial effect on retail throughout the Rosebank node and is indicated in the improved turnovers of tenants including the food outlets. The feedback received from the members of the public about the new environment, has also being very positive.”

Pachonick adds that space in the refurbished Mall of Rosebank is in demand and there has been a surge of interest for premises from both national and specialist tenants.  This interest forms part of the ongoing planning associated with regional shopping malls and has been incorporated as part of the future for the continued success of the Mall of Rosebank and the Rosebank retail node.
