news is that Deloitte & Touche will be one of the blue chip companies to be accommodated in the complex on completion early next year.
Of the 15 000m² building, ideally located just off the N1 - in close proximity to Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, several restaurants and other useful amenities - the audit, tax, consulting and risk advisory services giant will occupy 7 000 m² of the building.
Negotiations for the remaining 8 000m² space of this ideal work place which comprises a triple basement, ensuring sufficient parking, a ground floor and two four storey towers is still in progress with other prospective tenants.
Speaking about the agreement with Deloitte, James Ehlers, managing director of Atterbury Property Developments (Pty) Ltd says, “This development and the association with Deloitte is in line with our objectives of constructing unique buildings, in prime locations for occupation by key corporates.
“It also augments our important Pretoria business and commercial node portfolio where we already have iconic developments like Lynnwood Bridge Office Park that is strategically situated and is home to major companies like Adams & Adams and Aurecon.”
Commenting on Deloitte’s decision to move to this new development, Xavier Botha, Regional Leader and Partner-in-Charge l Audit - Pretoria of Deloitte & Touche, says the location of their new building at Riverwalk Office Park is ideal.
“It has great access to the freeway, is centrally located within the eastern business hub and has easy access to our public sector clients spread between central Pretoria and Brooklyn.”
Having grown from humble beginnings in downtown Pretoria in 1971, to over 500 staff members currently occupying two separate buildings in the Brooklyn area, Botha says they are excited about the prospect of consolidating all their regional resources into one building and to go to market as “One Deloitte” at Riverwalk.
“The developers have also put together a winning team of professionals and we are looking forward to moving into our new home in a landmark building early in 2012,” he adds.
On the subject of the professional team it includes award winning construction company, GD Irons Construction (Pty) LTD and architectural firm, Boogertman + Partners (B+P). Both companies have worked together in the past and with Atterbury, which is one of South Africa's leading property developers and property owners, on numerous successful projects it bodes well for the timely completion of Riverwalk.
While the developers are not seeking a green rating for the building, the design is in keeping with Atterbury’s practice of including green technologies in all their developments, which further adds to the appeal of the complex and is sure to make it an ideal new home for Deloitte & Touche’s Pretoria staff.
