PARIS - Theme park Euro Disney on Tuesday said it had trimmed by 13% its net loss in the first half of its 2011 financial year to €82.9 million ($119 million) thanks to more visitors and spending at its hotels.
Sales rose in the October-to-March period rose by 7.7% to €559.1 million, with attendence at the parks increasing by 6.2% to 6.9 million people.
The hotel occupancy rate rose to 83.4% from 79.6%, with average spending per room rising to €200.64 from 189.67.
Spending per visitor at the parcs was stable at €43.32 on average, against €43.53, which the company attributed to a greater number of Paris area visitors who buy annual passes.
"As we head into our important second semester, we are encouraged to end the first semester with our fourth consecutive quarter of growth in resort revenues," chief executive Philippe Gas said.
At 12:15 GMT the company's shares were down 0.84% to €9.39 while Paris' CAC 40 index was up 1.42%.
