A Leeudraai farm, regarded as a valuable piece of South African history and belonging to a prominent South African businessman, will go under the Auction Alliance hammer on May 19

Property-Housing-ResidentialThe farm is situated approximately 75 kilometres north-east of Pretoria and forms part of Elandsdrift, a 9690ha Private Game Reserve and one of the largest privately owned reserves in South Africa. Rich in history, the farm’s origins can be traced back to 1870 when it was granted to Jacob Lotter, the original owner, by the Transvaal colony and thereafter remained in the family for approximately 100 years.

Extending over 1556ha, Leeudraai Game Farm is home to 15 species of game including Eland, Hartebeest, Zebra, Giraffe and an abundance of Kudu, all thriving in the surrounding bushveld environment. The farm is well-situated along the Elands River, which runs through the farm for approximately 2.5 kilometres, ensuring a constant supply of water. The farm boasts a watering hole for game on the farm and features 2 service labourer houses.

The main house, featuring three bedrooms, has been kept in its original style and includes the original coal stove and fireplace. The farm, with stables for 4 horses, is in immaculate condition and is completely fenced with 2.4 metre electric fencing. It is easily accessible via a network of well-planned roads and bridges over the Elands River.

Comments Martin Van Zyl of Auction Alliance, “Steeped in history, this beautiful farm, less than a 90 minute drive from OR Tambo International, possesses enormous lodge possibilities and is ideal for the nature lover looking for a private game lodge of manageable size or the avid hunter looking for prime bushveld”.

The auction takes place at 12pm at the Hilton Hotel, 138 Rivonia Road, Sandton.
