On Saturday, 26 March from 8:30pm to 9:30pm the centre will join the global movement* by switching off all the external logo lighting on the building façade as well as encouraging all restaurants to operate by candle light for the hour.
“Morningside Shopping Centre fully supports the Earth Hour movement. We showed our support in 2010 and will be showing our solidarity to the cause once again this year,” says Jacqui Douglas, Centre Manager of Morningside Shopping Centre. “We will also be encouraging our tenants and the community to support this important environmental effort, with the vision of raising social awareness of climate change.”
* Earth Hour is the largest mass participation environmental event in the world and every year, WWF encourages people all over the world to turn off their lights for one hour in a symbolic gesture to pledge their commitment to combating climate change.
