Volvo plans to relocate its head office to Route 21 Corporate Park, Irene,in what has been described as a multi-million Rand investment.

The company is set to relocate in early 2011 and joins the likes of other leading vehicle manufacturers who have established headquarters at the Route 21 Corporate Park in Irene, including Jaguar and Land Rover SA.

A total of R1 billion has been invested in the first phase at Route 21.Phase two is now underway, and will also cost an estimated R1 billion to complete. The corporate park boasts 135 000 square metres of A grade office and prime warehousing space.

“The Irene area is a rapidly growing business hub and will, in the near future, rival the greater Centurion area and the Menlyn Park business node,” said Org Geldenhuys, a trustee at Route 21.

He said that two large property developers – Irene Land Corporation and M & T Developments - are poised to turn Irene into the next business hub in Pretoria. They are in the process of asking for the rights to develop 1.5 million square metres of property next to the popular Route 21 corporate office park along the R21 freeway.
