Davenport Square Shopping Centre in Glenwood, Durban is undergoing a R21million revamp

The project , due for completion in  April next year, aims to refresh and improve the look, feel and functionality of the entire centre which is owned by JSE-listed SA Corporate Real Estate Fund.

The initial stages of the project will cover tiling, painting and lighting of the interior mall, with changes to several shopfronts to improve the overall aesthetics of the centre. These elements are due for completion before Christmas with minimal disruptions to  shoppers’ experience. A complete refurbishment of exterior finishes and  toilets will then follow. The revamp will also see the addition of two new ablutions facilities.

“We look forward to delivering a quality offering to benefit both shoppers and retailers for years to come,” said Shaun Welgemoed, of the property development team of Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments (OMIGPI), which manages SA Corporate.

Marion Plint,  property manager  at OMIGPI, said Davenport Square enjoys a loyal shopper base and by improving the aesthetics and updating the shopping environment it was hoped to attract new customers to the centre..

Once the revamp is complete the centre will have improved its convenience offering through an  increase in parking bays and an improved flow of traffic via a thoroughfare to the far side of the building along Devonshire Avenue.

The makeover to the centre will add to the already established vibe in the Glenwood area. It looks to create a more welcoming exterior of the building along Helen Joseph (formally Davenport Road) and Brand Road.
