According to Bradley Martin, a spokesperson for Route 21 Corporate Park, the Irene area, adjacent to Route 21 Corporate Park, is “a business hub waiting to explode”.
“We are going to see some big developments here in the next few years, adding value to the existing developments done at Route 21 Corporate Park, which is a R2 billion office park development. Irene is poised to become another major business hub, very much like Centurion and the Menlyn Park business node.”
He added that development in the area appears to be “imminent”
“The two major property developers – Irene Land Corporation and M & T Developments - are in the process of acquiring the rights now, to develop a further 1.5 million square metres of development, the bulk of which will be turned into office space.”
According to Martin, signs of an improvement in the commercial property are looking up with Route 21 Corporate Park in Irene reporting that there is hardly any vacant space, with current stock sitting on a one or two percent vacancy rate (the OVS suggests that the vacancy rate is closer to 5% presently).
