Orion Hotels & Resorts, one of the largest independently owned hotel groups in Southern Africa, has announced the acquisition of the five-star Coach House Hotel in Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province, effective 1 July 2010

“Orion Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce the addition of two acquisitions to our portfolio – the Coach House Hotel and the Magoebaskloof Hotel, both in the Tzaneen area,” says Franz Gmeiner, CEO Orion Hotels & Resorts.  “The acquisition of the five-star Coach House marks the entry of the Orion Hotels Group into the luxury market and in due course, we will be announcing a new branding strategy for our hotels.  Conference facilities will be enhanced and expanded.  We will be developing and enhancing all aspects of the Coach House with particular emphasis on enhancing the business model of the existing spa.”

Since opening in 1983, the Coach House has maintained a local and international reputation as one of the top hotels in South Africa.  It is the only hotel in Limpopo with a five-star grading and a Silver Classification, awarded by SATOUR (South African Tourism Board).  The Silver Award, one of only twelve in the country, is an indication that the hotel provides an exceptional standard of service, hospitality and ambience.

The Coach House located in New Agatha, Tzaneen, is built on the historic site of an old staging post with an interesting history.  Situated amidst fifteen hectares of landscaped gardens, the relaxed and tranquil atmosphere of the hotel is enhanced by superb dining and every comfort and convenience, all contributing to a unique and unforgettable guest experience.

There are thirty-nine well-appointed spacious rooms, each with a private balcony overlooking spectacular Drakensberg Mountain scenery and the fertile valleys of the sub-tropical Lowveld.

Over the years, Orion Hotels has developed into an innovative and highly respected collection of quality properties, renowned for meeting the demands of discerning international travellers, local tourists and business people.  The Group places great emphasis on each hotel being able to offer high standards of service combined with a style that reflects the individuality of the hotel and its location.

Orion Hotels & Resorts has a portfolio of hotels in unique locations – Orion Mont-aux-Sources in the majestic Drakensberg mountains, the Orion Hotel Wartburg near Pietermaritzburg in Natal, the Mohale and Katse Lodges in Lesotho, Orion Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino in Swaziland, the Orion Hotel Devonshire in Johannesburg, Orion Hotel Promenade in Nelspruit, Orion Safari Lodge in Rustenburg and the Magoebaskloof Hotel and Coach House Hotel in the Tzaneen area.
