“Investec’s business in the KwaZulu-Natal region now has its own home in a bespoke building, which has been tailor-made to meet their needs,” says Abimbola Pariola of Investec Property.
Investec Property, which owns this new development, has built strong portfolios within the specialist areas of investments, developments and property and land acquisitions and also undertakes joint ventures and development partnerships. The team of highly skilled people operates across retail, office and industrial property sectors throughout South Africa, as well as the United Kingdom and Australia.
The new “P-Grade” Investec building enjoys a dominant position in a strategic new development in the prime business node of the region which is positioned to become the vibrant hub of future growth in the area. The development enjoys superb visibility and access, situated at new M41 highway off-ramp interchange.
Spanning some 6,500m², the three-storey building with basement parking on two levels and generous visitors parking, enjoys 180 degree views with strategically positioned balconies maximising the majestic sea views.
Investec’s new Durban head office is a distinctive variation of the company’s iconic offices around the world. Epitomised by clean lines, airy volume, movement and transparency, all design elements create a sense of energy and vibrant interaction space.
The building has been designed to incorporate top-notch, customised finishes which feature natural materials expressed in granite, marble, steel, wood and glass. The use of water plays a key element to the external environment of the building. This is achieved by way of two water features, one runs along the entrance facade of the building, while the other is a cascading water feature along the driveway of the premises.
The interior design of the building is in line with Investec’s cultural look and feel, which is characteristic of its offices around the world. This is evident with the use of transparency, light and movement to the open plan offices and public and private meeting spaces.
In line with Investec Bank’s business responsibility of sustainability, which is reflected in Investec Property’s adherence to green building principles, the new head office is designed to be respectful of the environment.
The new Investec building includes extraordinary glass innovations to manage the heating and cooling of the space and to use natural light to its best effect. Motion sensor lighting, water recycling and an advanced building management system are all the design elements that contribute to the energy efficiency of this prime head office.
With indigenous flora, bicycle racks and showers for those wishing to cycle to the office, the finest details have been incorporated to ensure a vibrant, functional and positive setting in the building.
“Office property in Durban has traditionally favoured multi-tenant environments and it is exciting to undertake this singular and innovative project in such a prime location for Investec,” notes Pariola. “We are extremely proud of this development.”
