Tourism accommodation income and occupancy still down

Total income for the accommodation industry for the three months ended January 2010 decreased by 0,3% compared with the three months ended January 2009

However, total income for January 2010 increased by 1,1% compared with January 2009.

Income from accommodation

Income from accommodation for the three months ended January 2010 decreased by 1,9% compared with the three months ended January 2009. This decrease was mainly due to a decrease of 3,3% in the number of stay unit nights sold during the same period. Income from accommodation in January 2010 decreased by 1,3% compared with January 2009.

Stay units available

The number of stay units available for the three months ended January 2010 increased by 2,4% compared with the three months ended January 2009. The number of stay units available in January 2010 increased by 2,2% compared with January 2009.

Stay unit nights sold

The number of stay unit nights sold for the three months ended January 2010 decreased by 3,3% compared with the three months ended January 2009. The number of stay unit nights sold in January 2010 decreased by 4,1% compared with January 2009.
