Just three hour’s drive from Johannesburg, the E100m development opened in September 2009 and boasts elegant accommodation, conference facilities and a world-class casino set in lush landscaped gardens. The resort is managed by the highly successful Piggs Peak Casino group, who are the title sponsors of the quarterly All Africa Poker tournament held at Piggs Peak Casino in Swaziland.
The newly opened Happy Valley resort features 65 standard rooms, four executive suites, two gourmet restaurants, a full pizzeria, stunning swimming pool and bar area. There is also a 24 hour coffee shop, VIP executive cigar lounge and curio shop.
“With its warm people and awe-inspiring landscapes, Swaziland has appeal to both business travellers and holidaymakers,” says Happy Valley Casino Director, Terrance Leibbrandt. “The new Happy Valley resort offers contemporary accommodation as well as magnificent recreational facilities at an attractive price.”
Over the past year, the original Happy Valley resort was almost completely overhauled. The architects kept only 14 per cent of the original design structure, transforming the hotel into the modern resort it is today.
The resort can comfortably accommodate up to 800 people in its newly completed conference facilities. Resident lighting and sound engineers as well as stage designers are on hand to help companies deliver the ultimate conference experience.
“From LCD television screens in the bedrooms, to the latest full range of audiovisual equipment in our conference centre, the resort offers world-class facilities,” says Leibbrandt. “Guests will particularly enjoy the fully automated Touch Multiplayer Roulette Table that can accommodate 14 players at once through an amazing personalised touch-screen betting surface.”
With 120 different slot machines, 14 table games such as Roulette, Black Jack and Poker, there are endless opportunities for guests to flirt with lady luck. High rolling punters will be treated like VIPs at the High Roller Salon Privè and Private Bar and well as a non-smoking casino area. And from mid 2010, after trying their hand at the tables and slot machines, guests will be able to head off to the “Why Not” Disco, when this well known trade mark will make its eagerly anticipated return, as the resort’s fashionable and beautifully refurbished nightclub, to dance the night away.
The resort will create employment opportunities for about 100 people in the casino and a further 100 in the main hotel. The staff have been trained to deliver high quality service in keeping with the resort’s four star tourism grading status.
