A SHOPPING mall in Ekurhuleni was yesterday robbed for the second time this month.
Four armed men robbed a jewellery shop at Carnival Mall, Boksburg, of money and jewellery worth about R100000, said police.
Police spokesperson Constable Faith Ntuli said four men entered the shop shortly after it had opened for business and forced the shop owner’s son and a security guard into the storeroom.
They then looted the shop and fled in a white Mercedes Benz and VW Jetta.
On September 1, two armed men had robbed a Cell C outlet at the mall of about 30 cellphones worth an estimated R40000 .
Meanwhile, Soweto police yesterday arrested one man and shot two others after the men hijacked a truck carrying tobacco worth R80000.
Inspector Mpande Khoza said the three men had shot at police who caught them off-loading the stolen tobacco into another truck.
Police returned fire and shot two hijackers in the legs and arrested one. The suspects are expected to appear in the Protea magistrate’s court on Friday.
