Gerald Leissner is widely acknowledged as a pioneer in many respects, having introduced systems and processes and set standards for shopping centre development, leasing and management in the 70’s and 80’s, with a vision way ahead of its time for others to emulate.

A humble leader, Leissner’s successful career spanned a period of 45 years.

He holds directorships at JSE listed Redefine, The Johannesburg Housing Company and the Housing Development Agency and was formerly CEO of Anglo American Property Services and ApexHi Properties.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Leissner at the 13th Annual African Congress of Shopping Centres, Johannesburg, Sandton – Wednesday 16 September 2009.
