The ClareMart Auction Group has been instructed to sell the previous head office and warehouse of Canterbury SA on auction.

According to CEO Jonathan Smiedt, his group received instruction from CP van Zyl of Progressive Administration, the joint provisional liquidator in the matter of Lakeside City Trading 137, the holding company which owned the Canterbury premises in Cape Town.

On auction is 35 Brickfield Road in Woodstock, a 5800m² warehouse and factory area under a vaulted roof with air extraction and staff facilities.

The property offers 1200m² of A grade office space which includes a boardroom. Ample off-street parking and roller access are provided.

Smiedt says the movable assets, which include vehicles, factory equipment and furniture, will be sold separately on the same day.

Canterbury SA applied for voluntary liquidation in January this year and Canterbury Europe was placed under administration on July 13.

According to reports in the international press British clothing and footwear retailer JD Sports Fashion stepped in to save the 100- year-old brand with its acquisition of the rugby brand for £6,5m.

JD purchased the key trading assets and trade of Canterbury Europe along with the global rights to the Canterbury and Canterbury of New Zealand brands, from the firm's administrators.

The investment property and movables will be auctioned on site on September 2 at 12pm. The property can be viewed on Wednesday August 26 between 12-3pm.
