Eden on the Bay promises to be a unique new shopping and lifestyle destination in the Cape when it opens its doors on 26 March 2009

Not only is this mixed-use development situated on a prime location on the shore of Blouberg’s Big Bay, it will also boast an admirable mix of upmarket stores and restaurants, literally a “pebble’s throw” from a world-class beach.

A first amongst coastal developments, at Eden on the Bay no road separates the building from the beach.

Eden on the Bay will be anchored by Pick n Pay Family Store and Clicks Pharmacy.  The highlight of the refreshingly different retail mix is a cosmopolitan selection of eateries including Moyo (opening later this year).

The mix of restaurants, with expansive views of Table Mountain, includes Ocean Basket and Ciao Baby Cucina. Like Moyo, these restaurants will all have outside seating, spilling out onto a large deck bordering a lawned public picnic area.  The retail story – a total of 60 outlets – represents all the categories, from a food court, service outlets, fashion and accessories, health and beauty and ATMs.

Service outlets include Flight Centre, Interafrica Bureau de Change, Laundry@Eden, Blue Mountain Internet Café, MTN and ATMs representing the four major banks. To add to the convenience, About Cats & Dogs (a popular veterinary outlet), Bargain Books, Homely Corner Curios and Vee’s Video will also open in the centre.

The fashion category will boast surf lifestyle outlets Slingshot Cape Town, Ka’na Surfboards, Surf Zone and Wave Rock. Shoe store Belevante and Mediterraneo clothing and accessories will add a touch of exclusivity to the mix.

Shoppers can look forward to one-of-a-kind outlets such as Zen Aesthetic Dental Spa. Here dental care services are offered in a spa environment – a concept that is new to South Africa.  Other health and beauty stores include Exquisite Eyes, Tandem Hair and Smoothe.

Take-out favourites such as KFC and Snoekies are situated in the Surfer’s Court – a food court with direct beach access. There will be no shopping rush at this lifestyle centre with its village atmosphere, dining destinations and everyday convenience.

Whether it’s a business lunch, romantic dinner, sundowners after work, cocktails with friends or a lazy day at the beach – Eden on the Bay has it all.

With its tempting mix of restaurants and eateries, complemented by an interesting “everything you need” shopping component situated on arguably the most beautiful beach on the Atlantic Seaboard, Eden on the Bay will undoubtedly be a new hub of leisure and social activity for tourists and locals alike.
